Aspirational Travel

List 3 countries I’d like to visit + why

United States

Top of my list without a doubt is the United States. My younger self would have been horrified to hear that – I had such a negative view of it for whatever reason. But now, through Facebook and the amazing friends I have made, I have begun to get to know the country and so much of it really calls to me.

I would love to go to the many Unschooling Conferences I’ve heard about and meet up with my roadschooling friends, not to mention drive across the vastness of it. I have had a yearning to visit Hawaii for a few years now, to connect with something deep inside of me that wakens when I read about the Huna teachings.  I’ve found Death Valley showing up in meditations for 10 years – I didn’t even know where it was or what it was called back then, but I recognised the tall red steeples in the desert when I saw a photo of them. And I have some favourite teachers and new friends in Santa Fe I’d like to see. So many friends to visit on the West Coast!

Peru

I’d love to visit the ancient Inca site of Machu Picchu and follow inspiration from there to explore that region. Books I read by Alberto Villoldo touched me and their imagery has stayed with me for years too.

Bali

And another inspiration from the imagery and life I remember reading in Karen Kingston’s Feng Shui books has made it a place I’ve longed to visit. Seeing the movie Eat Pray Love last year only fuelled my desire!

And Many More Than That

In truth, there are more places I do want to visit than I don’t. And even those that I don’t want to visit may surprise me in time and offer a jewel to tempt me. I love travel, experiencing new places and people and food, especially meeting the people and eating the food, preferably together!

I travelled for a short time between 1999 and 2000 and then found myself in love with a man who didn’t want to travel or move from the town he lived in and so I put my dreams on a shelf for a while. Having children made me fear that I’d never be able to live those travel dreams, but, in deep meditations, I was shown a different reality and exploring the world with them seemed possible and exciting.

Now that I know so many unschoolers and roadschoolers, I realise how full and exciting and adventurous it is possible to be, living our lives and discovering this amazing planet we live on. And right now I am working on the framework to make it not only possible, but also very probable. My dream is off the shelf and on my vision board and feels very vibrant and alive!

Where do you want to travel? What ways have you made travel possible that most people might not have thought about? Share your stories with me .. I can always do with the extra inspiration!

i’m always interested in the outside perspectives of the US. the media doesn’t portray us well; even i get pretty turned off when i see it! but lie you said, the amazing people we can connect to via the internet really changes that. :)

Definitely! I learned, after some lonely travels earlier in my life, that even the most beautiful places are pretty empty without great connections .. and hopefully, good food to share with them! Though I see so many stunning faces of the US through the photos my unschooling friends take that I’ve been sold! and I know I’ll have the company to share it with and more :-)
