S.O.U.L. e-Awakenings

I get daily emails from a very vibrant speaker called Jennifer Hough. She calls them daily S.O.U.L. (School of Unlimited Life) e-Awakenings and her intent is help you stay connected and share tools that teach you how to deliberately create abundance, joy and happiness in your life.

Today’s one resonated for me so I thought I’d share it here with you …

“Sometimes we get irritated when others (the media, your parents, politicians) come from a limited and controlling place. You have 2 choices: stay irritated or take leadership for another possibility.” J.Hough

Hey you.  We were in a media training course…..and today we had to look at our beliefs about media. Much of what we all shared was about media being sensationalizing, negative and filled with disturbing news. Kind of like some relationships where we feel disappointed that people are operating from fear and control. It’s not your job to change the way people think….or the way that media or politicians do their jobs. However, you do have an opportunity to lead….and leave the door open for another possibility for change and healing. Can you feel that it’s possible?

SOUL Whispers

Media is not an entity….people are the media. Politicians are not an entity, people are politicians. Well, if you are a person…and they are people…..then we can each individually, energetically or physically assist the paradigm to change. You have the capacity to lead…….with very little effort. Simply by knowing something else is possible, you already have caused a shift.

Let Go of the Oars

Who and what can you give up being righteous about………to leave the door open for another possibility. Hey, it beats the alternative!

You can sign up to Jennifer’s emails here.

Just Five More Minutes

By: Author Unknown

While at the park one day, a woman sat down next to a man on a bench near a playground. “That’s my son over there,” she said, pointing to a little boy in a red sweater who was gliding down the slide.

“He’s a fine looking boy” the man said. “That’s my daughter on the bike in the white dress.”

Then, looking at his watch, he called to his daughter.  “What do you say we go, Melissa?”

Melissa pleaded, “Just five more minutes, Dad. Please? Just five more minutes.”

The man nodded, and Melissa continued to ride her bike to herheart’s content. Minutes passed and the father stood and called again to his daughter, “Time to go now”.  Again Melissa pleaded, “Five more minutes, Dad. Just five more minutes”.

The man smiled and said, “Okay”.

“My, you certainly are a patient father,” the woman responded.

The man smiled and then said, “Her older brother Tommy was killed by a drunk driver last year while he was riding his bike near here. I never spent much time with Tommy, and now I’d give anything for just five more minutes with him. I’ve vowed not to make the same mistake with Melissa. She thinks she has five more minutes to ride her bike. The truth is, I get five more minutes to watch her play”.

Life is all about making priorities.

What are your priorities?

Give someone you love five more minutes of your time today!

Wow!

My kids love this book.  I love this book.  Does anyone not love “Where The Wild Things Are” by Maurice Sendak? And now we can look forward to the movie inspired by the book by Spike Jonze.

Being True To Yourself

As Forest Whitaker says of the movie’s main theme in this interview:  It’s about finding your own place in the world.  Max “wants to find comfort but still wants to be himself.  It’s about wanting to be true to himself.  That’s the universal principle”.  I know it’s what I strive for in myself and my dynamic with my family and in my life as an unschooler and an Abraham-Hicks student or someone trying to live a passion led life.

We’ll definitely be seeing this movie and I’ll report back with our review.

Movie Notes

Released in the US on 13 October and coming to the UK on 11 December 2009.
Other release dates can be found here.
Rated PG, you can read a full parental guide here.

Review

I was lucky enough to get preview tickets to this film recently and I loved it. If you’re on a journey of self discovery, into Being Authentic, Living a Passion-Led Life and Being True To Your Inner Being and the journey that takes you there through family, personal and abundance issues, you’ll probably love it too. All set against a backdrop of a nostalgic, memory-not-fact based view of Woodstock by director Ang Lee.

UK Green Festivals

I’m also a veteran of Glastonbury Festival and my family’s been involved with green festivals in the UK for nearly a decade and watching the set up of the festival and the resulting… oh, I won’t say and spoil your enjoyment, but suffice it to say that I saw *many* familiar characters and *many* familiar scenes!

Advisory

I’d be OK with viewing this film with my whole family and discussing anything as the questions arose, though you can view a parent’s guide here to see if it would be right for your family.

In Cinema

The film was released in the US in August 2009 and will be released in the UK on 13 November 2009.
